It’s not uncommon for a new tank to leave some dampness on the floor when it’s first being used. This is because there is an insulated lining between the tank and the outer shell that can gather humidity while in storage waiting to be sold. Now when you heat it up, that trapped moisture will condensate, run to the bottom of the tank and onto the floor.
Give it a day. If you still see water down there then you may have a problem. Now, I’m not talking about a running river here. If you have that much water, there is definitely a problem but if it’s just a smaller amount, I wouldn’t panic. It will likely be gone tomorrow. Okay, a couple of little things here before we get started putting our new tank in that I think will give you a “heads up” and maybe save you a couple dollars too.
If it was on top of the old tank, like mine, and will be on the side of the new tank, you can make 2 cuts on the tube, one on the vertical drop and one on the horizontal run. Doing this will allow you to “couple” the line back together, cut it to length and reuse it on the new tank instead of buying another one. Also, since you’re likely cracking open your new tank, don’t throw away any paperwork. You’re going to have to register your warranty and you may even want to take the sticker of the box that has the model and serial number stamped on it and tape it to your paperwork so it’s convenient if you ever need it for warranty parts.

Systems that are designed and operate with this principle in mind will generate energy more efficiently. For example, suppose a solar water heating system starts up in the morning with the solar storage tank at 70F. That means 70F water goes into the collectors to be heated.
Note that heating water from 70 to 80F requires exactly the same energy as heating water from to F, so we want to use solar for the first low-temperature portion of heat input, not the last high-temperature portion. That is why we always hook the solar into the cold water side of the conventional water heater. We can put a lot of heat into the coldest water at the highest efficiency.
One Tank Single-tank solar systems combine the solar storage tank with the conventional electric water heating tank in a single tank. The solar portion is on the bottom and the electric portion is on the top. Single-tank systems cannot incorporate gas water heaters because they heat from the bottom which destroys the solar efficiency. Alex A jet pump is going to have the issue where you either need to have a hole in the bottom of the tank for it to draw from this increases the risk of the tanks leaking , or you will have to prime the pump to get it going. A submersible pump in the tank will be much more reliable and much quieter, but is more expensive. Do you have a budget in mind? What kind of flow rates do you need not much, by the sounds of it? Is there any treatment system installed?
Water in tanks has a much greater potential of being contaminated. Typically cisterns or tanks are only used in residential applications when the well cannot produce enough water to meet demand so it runs dry during normal use — kind of like using a battery with a solar panel, so you can still have power during the night, or still run a dryer and stove at the same time even if it’s really cloudy out. Of course, this is probably more expensive, but it does increase the potential resale value.
I understand the contamination concern but the water is only used to flush toilets and wash dishes. As for a budget, Im open to spending what I need to get it working correctly. The submersible sounds interesting

To start out, the black water system is somewhat explained to a new owner by the salesman, technician or, in the case of a used rig, the previous owner. This system is often not adequately explained to the new owner, but even if it is there are many things that are easily forgotten in the avalanche of information that bombards the novice RVer.
To make matters worse, a well meaning and otherwise helpful fellow RVer will often give bad information when discussing the black water system. The first thing you will need for your black water system is a good quality sewer hose. Your RV came with a sewer hose?

Its suitability would depend on depth to water in your well. If you are pumping down to anywhere near the pump at ft then the head is inadequate for good pressure service without the booster pump. With the booster pump you can pull 20 GPM from the well because you will be reducing the pressure at the top of the well to nearly zero.

There are two water systems in the RV. An onboard system with a 48 gallon storage tank and 12 volt pump. There is also a city water system that requires a water faucet connection. There is a water hose connector at the drivers side rear of RV for each system. It uses the faucets water and pressure to deliver water directly to the RV faucets and toilet. There is a pressure regulator provided that must be connected to either end of the hose. The connector marked potable water connects to the water hose to fill the 48 gallon water tank.
Large Water Storage Tanks
Begin by shutting off the electrical power to your well pump at the circuit or fuse box. Your water system needs to be drained of water. Open a cold water faucet or other discharge at the lowest point in your water system and allow all water to drain. You will be draining a large amount of water.

When the water level in the storage tank drops about a foot from the top, the top float switch triggers the well pump to come on. The well pump pushes water up through the drop pipe to the surface and into the storage tank. The check valve keeps water from flowing back into the well. When the storage tank is full, the top float switch shuts the well pump off. The booster pump system can be either a standard pressure system with a 20 psi range or a constant pressure system with a 2 psi range.
When either the pressure switch or pressure sensor turns on the booster pump, it pulls water from the storage tank to supply the pressure tank… that in turn supplies the house or irrigation system. If the storage tank is ever empty, the bottom float switch will shut off the booster pump to prevent it from overheating. Most storage tank designs stop here.
But the problem is that if your well or well pump has a problem and is not properly filling the storage tank, you would never know unless you were checking on it regularly until you were completely out of water. So we install a middle float switch in the tank. This float switch will temporarily shut off the booster pump if the water level in the storage tank falls to that point.
When that occurs you can flip a switch to turn the booster system back on and call us to come service the well or well pump. This provides you the reliability that everyone deserves from their water system. Many of our customers prefer a storage tank system for the following reasons:
