The other is a LX on a cub chassis with uncut 26X12x12 tires on aluminum wheels. I built them about 20 years ago. They have been sitting for the last 10 years. They still look really sharp and were competitive in there day.

Tweet The greatest crime in ancient Greece was hubris. And the perpetrator that carried out the sins as a result of their hubris inevitably faced great shame and retribution, most often fatal. Folks waited months for their deadly sins to be delivered, and Chevy might well have been able to sell a million in if they could have made them fast enough.

The body has been repaired, filled, sanded, primed, and now shines with a new paint job. Your rebuilt engine has been reunited with your refurbished frame. Before reuniting the body with the frame, install the interior back into the completed body. Or, you can wait until the body has been mounted onto the frame. The advantage of waiting is to reduce the weight of the body when it is lowered onto the frame.

Connected directly to the motor via a screw. Shown below are five of the most common drive ends used on Chevrolet engines. These nose pieces can be used with either the low or high torque 10MT motors. Cast Iron, Bolts to Bellhousing This style of drive end is used on early manual transmission applications where the starter bolts to the bellhousing. I think it may have also been used on some early automatic transmissions such as the cast iron Powerglide where it bolted to an adapter plate between the engine and transmission.
It attaches with 3 bolts. Cast Iron, 2 Bolts to Engine Block This style of drive end is used on later manual transmission applications where the starter bolts to the engine block. It is used with a 14″ diameter, tooth flywheel. It will also fit automatic transmission applications using a 14″ diameter, tooth flexplate. It attaches with 2 equal length bolts in a staggered one farther ahead than the other pattern. Also shown in the photo is an example of the type of shim that is sometimes needed with this style of starter nose.

The good news is that there are six common remote starter issues, but none of them serious. Hood Pin Switches Or Sensors The single biggest thing that can cause a remote starter not to engage is a faulty or missing hood switch.

Car Year, Make, Model: Everything built after the 6 volt era usually has a resistor wire built into the harness I call any wire that is turned off by the ignition switch a “Switched Wire ” All will have 12V except for the wire to the coil. It is cut down to about 8V..
Units Ready to Install, from 80 to Amps. for many types of General Motors cars (Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, Cadillac, Oldsmobile, Saturn, Pontiac, Geo, etc.), light and heavy duty trucks, General Motors High amperage alternator, Alternator upgrades for GM.
Based on the above wiring diagram, you need the following: Ignition Switch – The starter is turned on by the ignition switch’s Sol solenoid position. It is a momentary contact position usually on the key switch. It doesn’t have to be on the key switch, you could make it a pushbutton switch instead mounted on the dash. When the alarm is on, the contacts are open, preventing anyone from starting the engine.
Neutral Safety Switch Clutch Engaged – This is a switch that is attached to the shift lever auto or manual. It prevents the engine from starting unless the transmission is in neutral or park for automatic transmissions. For manual transmissions, it is connected to the clutch pedal so that you can’t start the engine unless the clutch is engaged. Starter Solenoid – This is a connection on the starter or a separate soleniod that controls the starter motor.
It is separate connection on the starter so that smaller gauge wire can be run to the starter to control it. The option is to use one big hunking switch and a battery cable to run to the dash to control the s of amps that the starter requires to turn over the engine. The starter solenoid is basically a big relay.
Powerglide was the first automatic transmission available on a low-priced car. As well as the last of its kind almost a quarter century later. The Hydramatic was efficient, but it was not very smooth.

Big fat gnarly wire is the main power wire, as you surmised. It comes directly from the battery. It provides power to the solenoid, not to the starter though well, ultimately it gets to the starter There are two parts to the starter in most vehicles. The larger part which actually attaches to the engine is the starter motor.
This, as the name implies, is the part which actually gets the engine to spin. The smaller part is called the solenoid. The solenoid has two purposes. Its first job is to move the starter gear into position so it will contact the engine flywheel or flexplate depending on type of transmission. The second thing it does is to act as a relay to energize the starter motor.
The other two wires is where your understanding goes astray. One of these wires provides power to the solenoid to energize it. This wire gets energized when you turn the key switch from the “on” position to the “start” position.

June 17, , When I took the engine out of my truck I was in a real hurry and did not pay attention to the wires I took off of the starter. I thought surely a book would tell me exactly how to re-wire it. Every schematic and post I have found here has not helped. So- the 10 gauge red with large hole connector obviously goes to the large post in the middle. I have two other wires. One is 16 gauge and using a continuity tester I found it goes to the instrument cluster lighting.
This wire is so dirty and old I can’t tell the color. May be purple or brown. The other wire is 12 or 14 gauge and brown. I have HEI ignition and a guy told me to forget about the brown or purple and connect the 12 or 14 ga to the block side small post. I really think the 3rd wire 16 ga was connected to one of the small posts but not sure which one. If you have a definitive schematic, send it.
A small refresh for models was introduced in , bringing slight design changes and an upgrade to the audio and HVAC controls. The latter and GMT production units used the name Classic to denote the difference between the first and second generation trucks. May 09, · Hello 2tons of fun, Please explain quote: check your dist to cap plug, the 3 wire that clips in to the cap, you may have it backwards. When I bought the truck the engine was blown (small block ) it was all original including the original tach, it was hooked up to the original point system.
After having Scramzilla for a few months and trying to wheel with the Holley Pro Jection fuel injection system, it was apparent that I was not going to be happy with this system. My problems were that the Jeep was getting way too much fuel at an idle, but not enough once I gave it a little gas, and if I went above 3, RPM, it would hesitate, then backfire.
I tried using an AEM adjustable fuel pressure regulator, thinking that I might be able to crank up the Holley regulator where it would provide enough fuel at a higher RPM, and the AEM would limit the fuel delivery at low RPM’s, but it didn’t work good enough. I was still blowing black smoke at low RPM’s and the engine did not perform at all. I finally realized I was either going to have to keep pouring money into the Holley system, or bite the bullet and upgrade.
A buddy of mine just happened to have an old Tuned Port Injection system off of an old Iroc Camaro that he wanted to sell so he could stroke the LT1 in his buggy. Since my motor was from an ’84 model pickup, I had to make sure that the TPI intake would fit on my block. We had no idea what car the TPI had come off of so it was just a guessing game. I found out that the intake would bolt up with no modification, so I bought the entire box of parts from him and started sorting things out.
